Dr Antonis Bouzinos                                                  Senior Petrographer

'Antonis' studies at the University of Patras (Greece) earned him an undergraduate degree in Geology and then a PhD in 2004. Antonis thesis work was on "The Almyros lignite deposit (Prefecture of Magnesia): Formation, evolution and exploitation possibilities". He has specific expertise in geological and geochemical functions of wetlands and mires, genesis of coal and peat and organic petrology with a variety of scientific and industry related research projects, including field work in peatlands and lignite deposits. Antonis has conducted field surveys, drilling campaigns and laboratory analyses on the physical and chemical features of organic sediments. He also has extensive experience in the geotechnical testing of soil and rock samples. Since 2012, he has been working at ERC Pty Ltd as a Senior Petrographer with experience in Carboniferous, Permian, Jurassic and Tertiary coals of low, medium and high rank from a variety of basins in Australia, Asia, Africa and Europe. Antonis is member of the International Committee of Coal and Organic petrology (ICCP). He is an accredited coal petrographer for maceral group analysis and random vitrinite reflectance in the Single Coal Accreditation Program (SCAP) and Vitrinite Reflectance of Dispersed Organic Matter (DOMVR).
