Mr Padmasiri (Paddy) Ranasinghe Principal Petrographer Paddy Ranasinghe initially obtained a B.Sc. degree majoring
in organic chemistry from the University of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). He then studied
geology under a Colombo Plan scholarship and completed a B.Sc. Hons degree in
geology at the University of Tasmania (Australia) before joining the Geological
Survey of Sri Lanka. Paddy permanently migrated to Australia in 1984 and
he combined his knowledge of both organic chemistry and geology under the
supervision of Professor Alan Cook at the University of Wollongong (NSW,
Australia) and in 1984 he was awarded M.Sc. honours degree for his research
thesis titled Crude Oil and Potential Source Rock Studies in the Eromanga
Basin. After graduating, Paddy continued his association with Dr Alan Cook
working with him extensively as an organic petrologist at
Keiraville Konsultants Pty Ltd. Paddy has worked continuously in the
field of organic petrology, specialising in source rock studies. In 1995, Paddy
completed a Graduate Diploma in Computer Science at Wollongong University (NSW,
Australia). Paddy Ranasinghe is long
standing member of the International Committee for Coal and Organic Petrology
(ICCP), the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and Australian
Computer Society (ACS) |
